The calculator does not simply subtract two timestamps and divide by 365. It performs calendar-aware subtraction: it subtracts the year, then the month, then the day, borrowing where needed. If the target day is earlier than the birth day, it borrows one month and adds that month's actual number of days (28, 29, 30, or 31); if the target month is earlier than the birth month, it borrows a year. This is why the same person can be "34 years, 0 months, 29 days" rather than a decimal approximation.
For example, someone born on 15 March 2000, calculated on 22 July 2026, is 26 years, 4 months, and 7 days old. Leap years are handled by using each month's true length, so a 29 February birthday is measured correctly against non-leap years. Because the computation runs entirely on calendar rules, the total-days figure equals the actual count of days elapsed, not an average-length estimate.
